No matter how good your Wi-Fi router is, it has limits: walls attenuate signal, interference from neighbouring routers degrades performance, and the devices that need the most bandwidth (streaming TVs, gaming consoles, work-from-home computers) perform best over a wired connection.
The best home networks combine both: wired Ethernet to every TV, office, and access point location — so your Wi-Fi is delivering speed, not compensating for cabling that was never run.

Cat6 Ethernet Wiring:
- Cat6 runs from a central distribution point (patch panel or keystone panel) to every TV location, office, bedroom, and access point location.
- Keystones and faceplates for clean wall-mounted RJ45 outlets.
- Patch panel installation and cable management in a central closet or utility room.
Wi-Fi Access Point Installation:
- Ceiling-mounted wired access points (Ubiquiti, TP-Link EAP, Netgear Orbi Pro) for whole-home coverage.
- Each AP wired with Cat6 for maximum performance — no wireless backhaul.
- Access point locations planned to eliminate dead zones.
Coaxial (TV Cable):
- RG6 coaxial runs to TV locations and splitter installation.
- MoCA 2.5 adapter locations where coax and Ethernet integration is desired.
Home Media Cabinet:
- Rack or wall-mount panel for router, switch, patch panel, and media devices.
- Clean cable management and power distribution within the cabinet.
Phone and Intercom:
- Cat3 or Cat5e for phone extensions (now rarely needed, but available).
- Video doorbell wiring and intercom wiring for multi-unit entry systems.
New Home Network Pre-Wiring
The time to run structured wiring is during construction. Not after.
During new home construction, Pro Call Electric can rough-in all structured wiring at the same time as the electrical rough-in: The cost of retrofitting structured wiring through finished walls is significantly higher than running it during rough-in.
